Qskeptics State of the Art – Quantum Computing
Dr Matthew Broome School of Mathematics and Physics Communications University of Qld
Quantum Computing is the promise of the New World of 21st Century Physics.
While the theoretical possibilities might be staggering, we are not absolutely sure such a machine can be built at all. However, even this week there have been developments that have shed light on what can be achieved. What with the Higgs and the LHC and Astrophysics and dark matter, things are really moving in physics.
The prima on quantum logic gates I mentioned in the advance notice is already 12 years old! So what has happened since and what is possible now and where is quantum technology taking us? Do particles routinely dip in and out of timelessness!? Are Quantum Computers possible? Has entanglement been established ‘unambiguously’?

Monday 29th April 2013
6pm dinner 7:30pm meeting
The end of the world is nigh as sagely predicted by the Mayans; so join us for traditional Mayan cuisine of tequila and burritos as we count down to the very end.
On December 21st at 6:30pm, join us at Cactus Republic at Southbank for last minute beans without the socially embarrassing consequences.
Head over to facebook and RSVP so I can get an idea of numbers, or leave a comment below.
